Conn-Selmer, Inc. Announces Promotion for Michael Kamphuis and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser

Elkhart, Indiana – February 9, 2022 – Conn-Selmer, Inc. announces the promotion of Michael Kamphuis to Vice President of the Division of Education and the promotion of Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser to Senior Vice President of Education.

Michael (Mike) has been in the music industry for over twenty years. Beginning his career at Leblanc before joining Conn-Selmer, Mike has held many different positions primarily on Sales and Marketing side of band and orchestra instruments including Product Manager, Director of Marketing, and Sr. Director of Product Marketing at Conn-Selmer, Inc. In 2013, Mike became the Managing Director of Conn-Selmer’s Division of Education. In this role he developed a team focused on creating resources and programs to support the further growth of music education in North America while also providing world-class instruments from Conn-Selmer’s portfolio of woodwind, brass, string and percussion instruments and accessories. Mike now serves as the Vice President of the Division of Education continuing to work towards the betterment of music education worldwide.

Mike is actively involved on the steering committee of the Indiana Arts Education Network, the advisory board for the Elkhart Jazz Festival, and also participates as a delegate for Indiana and Michigan during the NAMM Fly-in to Washington D.C. in support of the arts being part of a well-rounded education as defined in the Every Student Succeeds Act passed by the federal government in 2015. Mike is also a National Advisory Board Member for United Sound. In 2019, Michael was inducted into the Conn-Selmer Institute (CSI) Hall of Fame. In 2021, Mike was named an honorary member of the Minority Band Directors National Association and the HBCU National Band Directors Consortium.

Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser now serves as the Senior Vice President of Education for Conn-Selmer's Division of Education. He is a nationally recognized voice touting the importance of arts education for every child. He is a member of the Midwest Clinic Board of Directors and the Western International Band Clinic/American Band College Board of Directors. He is presently the Chair of the National Association for Music Education Music Honor Society (Tri-M).
